Emotions are what make us human, yet in order to maintain a healthy overall mental condition we need to be able to self-regulate them. Emotion regulation is the ability to exert control over one’s own emotional state and keep them within healthy boundaries. It may involve rethinking a challenging situation to reduce anger or anxiety, hiding visible signs of sadness or fear, or focusing on reasons to feel happy or calm.

It is a skill that can be developed and improved with practice, and given the many benefits beyond just feeling better in the short term, it is well worth the time investment. 

Developing stronger emotional regulation skills can improve performance at work, strengthen personal relationships, and even improve overall health. They can also help improve mood and increase compassion and empathy towards others. 

Selena will help us understand our current levels of self-control and ways to both improve our connection with our emotions and in turn, our connection with others.
